I love painting small projects that cost very little and are fun to decorate our houses with.  There are so many projects you can do to decorate children’s rooms that are very inexpensive.  And what fun to give away items that are made by you!!  By the way it’s not too early to start Christmas projects.

 

One recent trend I’ve noticed is letters and words being hung on the wall, what a statement, yes, pun intended.  When I happened to come across these letters at Hobby Lobby for half price I couldn’t resist.  They were $1.50 plus tax, who wouldn’t be tempted.  So I headed out to the garage to see what I could come up with.  I wanted each letter to be fun and different, keeping in mind the likes and dislikes of each child.

 



 

The T was for my daughter who has a blue room with silver circles painted on the walls.  It shimmers and shines as you walk past.

Here’s a new trend, that’s anything but new. Artists have been painting “faux” wood for 100’s of years. In older communities you could see many examples of cheaper grade wood being painted to look like more expensive woods. 

Last spring I traveled to Kansas City to take a wood graining class offered by an accomplished artist Mike Macneil, www.mikemacneil.com. It was a very intense class and I was amazed at what he taught me.

 It’s that time of year again!! From now until Sept 21 it’s the Central Oklahoma Home Builders Assoc. Parade of Homes. It’s the perfect time to get out there and see the new trends in building, materials and decorating.

Some people have asked where they can see my work up close, so I’ve included a list of the locations. These model homes are open most days, but I like to visit models during the parade because there is less pressure from salespeople.
